Black tea is made from the leaves of a shrub called Camellia sinensis. A process called oxidation (leaves are exposed to moist, oxygen-rich air) changes the color of the leaves from dark green to dark brown or black.
Black tea is a fully oxidized tea, green tea is made from the same plant, but not oxidized.
